RSE: Relationships Education
The new RSE will be compulsory from September 2020. Schools should start teaching from that date if they meet the statutory requirements. If they are not ready, or are unable to meet the requirements, they should begin teaching by at least the start of the summer term 2021.
Here is some information from the government about this compulsory framework: government guide for parents
In brief, by the end of primary school, pupils will have been taught content on the following areas (which are already part of our PSHE curriculum):
• families and people who care for me • caring friendships • respectful relationships • online relationships • being safe
The draft policy is in our policies section which has a curriculum overview in the appendices.
We would have liked to have had a parents consultation regarding the RSE Curriculum at school, but due to Covid restrictions this has not been possible. Please do not hesitate to contact the school via the office to request a conversation should you wish to.
